OCEAN BEACH BOULEVARD update

OCEAN BEACH BOULEVARD MILLING AND FINAL PAVING OPERATIONS SET FOR WEEK OF DECEMBER 6TH
(Check out progress pictures below)

This picture was taken a number of months ago during an intermediate phase of improving Ocean Beach Boulevard. The below picture (taken by Cocoa Beach Project Manager/CAD Operator Rob Strong on November 30, 2010) shows marked progress as the final stages are close at hand.. The on-site project paving contractor reports that milling and final paving operations will begin on Monday, December 6, 2010. The milling/paving will cover the turn lanes, intersections and bike path areas not previously paved. Motorists are asked to use caution in the areas where these operations will be taking place next week. Your patience is appreciated as much of this work can be adversely affected by poor weather conditions.

KELLY SLATER SCULPTURE

CITY WORKERS HELP INSTALL KELLY SLATER SCULPTURE
AT TRIANGLE PARK IN COCOA BEACH

Cocoa Beach Public Works personnel assisted in the installation of the "larger-than-life"
Kelly Slater sculpture at Triangle Park earlier this week. The 1,000 pound bronzed likeness was sculpted by artist-sculptor Natasha Drazich in a process that took over two year to complete. Kelly Slater is a Cocoa Beach native who recently won his 10th World Surfing Championship title.

The sculpture is presently covered under a blue tarp to protect it from the elements. It will be unveiled to the public during a "dedication ceremony" being planned in the near future.
